Lamborghini
The Lamborghini myth is strongly linked to the founder, Ferruccio Lamborghini, a strong, determined man. Ferruccio’s project, producing dream cars for enthusiasts the world over, took off in 1963. Before this date the company produced mainly tractors and burners, items in great demand in postwar Italy.
In 1963 the factory of Automobili Lamborghini di Sant’Agata Bolognese was built and its first mass-produced car was the 350 GT, which under- went various stages of evolution. In 1965 the time was ripe for the crea- tion of the first masterpiece: the Miura, designed by Bertone, which was presented in 1966 at the Geneva Auto Salon and promoted as the fastest mass-produced car in existence.
The company then traversed periods of alternating fortune, starting with the sale by its founder in 1972, but always continued to arouse the fantasy of car-lovers. In 1973 it presen- ted the first Countach, which was to be produced in five versions, for a total of 1999 cars.
From 1989 to 1993, the manufacturer located at Sant’Agata experienced a brief but intense season in Formula 1, furnishing engines to the Larrousse, Lotus, Minardi, and Ligier teams and creating an entire single- seater that raced with the Modena Team in 1991.
In the meantime, in 1990, another legend entered production: the Diablo, which in its various versions was manufactured up to 2001.
Since 1998 Lamborghini has been a member of the Audi Group. Its most recent challengers are named Murciélago, Murciélago Roadster, Gallardo, Gallardo spyder.
