Maserati – the motorcycles of the trident

Maserati

For a short period, unfortunately too short, the Maserati trade name alsoappeared in connection with motorcycles. Between the fifties and sixties the motorcycles of Maserati, like the cars, were one of the shining symbols of an Italy that was growing.
The launch into the motorcycle sector was achieved rapidly in 1953 by taking over Italmoto of Bologna (Via Ferrarese, 171), a recently established motocycle manufacturer which was already present in the market with two light motorcycles of notable quality: a four-stroke 160cc and a more economical two-stroke 125cc with a motor very similar to the German DKW.
