William Vaccari
Born in Modena in 1923, William Vaccari, nicknamed “the plumber” for his ability in joining steel tubes, had been working for Maserati since 1940 when he was noticed by Enzo Ferrari who suggested that Vaccari become his chassis manufacturer. He made Vaccari an offer that he could not refuse, to use Vaccari’s own words. He opened his own workshop working exclusivelt for Maranello. So it was that an extremely strong and productive association was born (Vaccari was one of three companies, together with Ferrari and Scaglietti, that Ford wanted to take over) which has continued since that remote 1956 with excellent results.
