International Circuit "Santamonica" of Misano Adriatico

Misano World CircuitOne of the most important car-racing tracks in Italy is undoubtedly the Circuito Santamonica at Misano Adriatico. Planning for the race track started in 1969 and three years later it was ready to open for racing, with a track that was at the time 3488 meters long, small open boxes, a service building and a very limited number of drivers, which was to increase in the following years.

The track was extended in 1993 to a length of 4060 meters, which made it more versatile, since it could be utilized for either short or long races. Later on, a new building was constructed with new boxes, servicing areas, meeting rooms and a perfectly equipped press room. The building was enlarged further still in 1997, the paddock area in 1998 (reaching a size of 40,000 m2) and in 2001 the first section of the grandstand was completed, with 5000 seats. Outstanding among the international car and motorcycle events hosted by the Autodromo di Misano are the Superbike World Championship, the Formula Three and Grand Tourism Italian Championship, the World Ducati Week, the Ferrari Challenge, and the Targa Tricolore Porsche. The facility is also the site of the Guidare Pilotare school of sports driving and safe driving, founded by Siegfried Stohr.
